Do You Need SPF In Your 50s?

As soon as the sun comes out after the colder months, your first thought might be to go to the shop, grab some food for a barbeque and sit outside basking in the brilliant sun. As the summer starts to roll around, you want to spend as much time outdoors as you possibly can, regardless of your age. Even if you are under a parasol, just being outside and breathing in the fresh air can feel rejuvenating and relaxing. But be wary, because it’s not all roses and moonshine – or should we say… sunshine.

Enjoying the sun and looking after your skin, is made easy with our broad spectrum SPF that will protect your skin from the sun’s UVA ageing rays and still allow your skin to get a lovely colour.

However, as you age and enjoy the sun, do you need SPF in your 50s?

In this article, we will discuss how you should use sunscreen as you age, and the benefits and risks of the sun’s UV rays.

Is Your Only Concern About Ageing?

When it comes to the warmer weather, you have to be careful. The sun can be extremely damaging to your skin and your health if you are not careful. Exposure to the sun’s UVA and UVB rays without a good sunscreen to protect your skincan on the surface level lead to premature ageing, fine lines, and wrinkles as well as hyperpigmentation and dark spots. Of course, this is something we’ll gladly avoid from happening but what is even worse is the underlying consequences UV rays can have…

Overexposure to UV rays without protection, can have disastrous effects on your health. Unprotected exposure to the sun in the long term can lead to melanoma, which is skin cancer. Without the correct protection, the sun’s rays can penetrate through your skin’s surface levels, and this is where the sun can start to change your skin and the development of cancer can begin. And that is definitely not worth getting a good tan for two weeks, so it’s time to start bathing in sunscreen!

What Are The Benefits Of The Sun?

Don’t let the downsides of being in the sun scare you too much, as the sun is a wonderful thing that can have a positive effect on our health too. It gets you out of the house and enjoying nature. Everything is so much brighter and lighter when the weather is better.

As much as the sun has its risk, if you are protected then it comes with a whole host of amazing benefits.

Uplifts Your Mood

Getting outside and soaking in the sun’s rays has been proven to have a positive impact on your mood.  If you are feeling low, it feels great to be outside in nature and feel the warmth on your skin.

Vitamin D

The sun is a great source of vitamin D, which helps to nourish and strengthen your bones and your body. It is hard to get a good, healthy dose from food alone so getting outside is amazing for your wellbeing. Have you ever noticed that everybody’s mood seems to be a lot better during the summer? This is probably because you’re lacking Vitamin D during the colder winter months – which is why it’s important to get supplements with enough vitamins!

Should You Always Use SPF?

Ultimately the answer is always going to be a resounding yes when it comes to, ‘do you need SPF with mature skin?’.  Using SPF on mature skin is not just essential but vital. The sun can do a lot more damage than just cause wrinkles.

Being outside and exposed to the sun’s UVA and UVB without any protection will damage your skin and can cause short-term issues such as burning your skin. Also, the long-term effects are ageing, with fine lines, wrinkles, and dark spots. The main concern is that exposure to these UV rays is a contributing factor to the development of skin cancer.

The Obagi Sun Shield Matte™ Broad Spectrum SPF 50 is a great sunscreen for all skin types that offers broad-spectrum protection from the sun’s UVA and UVB rays. As it is in a sheer, matte formula that helps to reduce shine, it’s great for people with oily skin. As well as being non-comedogenic, so it won’t block your pores and is suitable for all skin types with sun protection factor 50. Don’t forget to reapply the sunscreen every two hours while being in the sun, and reapply instantly after going for a refreshing dip in the sea.

How To Avoid Hyperpigmentation This Spring/Summer

Hyperpigmentation

As the sun makes more of an appearance, the need for a summer switch-up in our skincare routine is definitely on the cards! Whilst the sun can brighten your complexion from a heightened sense of Vitamin D when wearing sunscreen, it can also bring out redness, hyperpigmentation and blemishes the more it’s exposed to harmful rays of the sun.

Naturally our skin starts to defend itself and the top layer of the skin starts to thicken and dry out in order to protect itself. As our skin does this it results in our body producing even more oil to compensate, which can result in more clogged pores, breakouts and hyperpigmentation to occur. But fear not, there are some amazing products on the market and at Pure Obagi we provide the very best of Obagi Medical® products, scientifically formulated to transform the skin from within. Resulting in a younger and healthier complexion for all skin types using the very best ingredients, designed to tackle a countless amount of skin concerns so your skin can look and feel its very best this summer!

The Use of Serums

There are numerous serums on the market today that are a perfect go-to when it comes to skin hyperpigmentation. A product like Obagi-C® FX C-Clarifying Serum, a clinically proven formula to brighten the skin including Arbutin (4%) and 10% L-ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C) both working in harmony to give your skin that much needed brightening. When it comes to hyperpigmentation, Arbutin is your saviour, with key properties directly responsible for fading the appearance of hyperpigmentation leading to a smoother complexion. It’s a go-to this summer.

With additional antioxidant protection, plus Vitamin B3 to help diminish fine lines and wrinkles, this serum is an ideal essential in achieving that smoother summer complexion.

Lastly, finished off with Obagi Nu-Derm® Fx Exfoderm® Forte to encourage exfoliation and Obagi Nu-Derm® Blend Fx, designed to mix with and aid the absorption of Retinoids. All working as a collective system to enhance each other and effectively working in unison to provide maximum results, a great way to avoid hyperpigmentation.

The Importance of SPF’S

With hyperpigmentation being a cause of overproduction of melanin as a result of UV and photodamage, as well as other factors like hormonal changes, and genetics, it’s key to block harmful UV rays from the sun all year round but especially in summer, when the sun is at its highest and strongest. Doing so with a strong SPF, like this Obagi Sun Shield Matte™ Broad Spectrum SPF50, a non-sticky matte sunscreen with a strong protecting factor of 50, it’s an important element to remember at the end of your morning skincare routine.

3 Ways to Enhance Your SPF Protection

3 Ways To Enhance Your SPF

Wearing an SPF is widely regarded as a skincare essential. Not only does wearing the right SPF protect you from skin cancers, it will also prevent premature ageing, as sun damage is known to cause sagging, pigmentation formation and the development of fine lines and wrinkles.

Choosing the correct Sun Protection Factor is the easy bit, look for a UVA and UVB protective sunscreen with a high SPF factor (30+ is good) to keep your skin supple and shielded from damage. After choosing your sunscreen you might wonder how you can really make the most of it, we’re here to show you three ways to enhance your SPF this summer!

Partner SPF With Vitamin C

Introducing the power couple of summer 2022, vitamin C and SPF. In a 2013 study is was found that “sunscreens block only 55% of the free radicals produced by UV exposure”, when under strict lab conditions it was shown that applying a 10% vitamin C serum reduced UVB-induced redness by 52%, as well as reducing sunburn cell formation by 40-60%. So, forget Love Island, the perfect couple this summer is vitamin C and SPF!

Apply a light layer of the Obagi Professional-C® Serum 10% to your skin prior to applying your SPF as part of your morning routine. Allow this potent antioxidant serum to absorb before continuing with your skincare routine. Not only will this serum naturally boost your sunscreen, it will also brighten your complexion and help to create a more even tone by reducing the appearance of broken capillaries and mild pigmentation.

This best selling, fragrance-free, sunscreen uses both chemical and physical ingredients to keep you shielded from sun damage.

As a general skincare rule, apply your SPF last, allowing all the lighter serums and creams to be applied first. Eat SPF Boosting Foods

Who would’ve thought it, eating certain foods can help protect your skin from sun damage! Eating antioxidant rich foods like blueberries will help to fight off the free radicals that can damage the skin, blueberries are also a brilliant source of vitamin C, another powerful antioxidant that will help brighten the skin and prevent premature ageing.

A study published by the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition found that eating Watermelon can help protect your skin from sun damage and reduce wrinkle formation. Watermelon contains lycopene, this antioxidant absorbs UVA and UVB radiation, it can take several weeks for it to take effect, however after this time your skin is sure to become more photoprotective, with lycopene acting as a natural sunscreen. So this summer, why not try adding watermelon to your diet, this shouldn’t replace the use of SPF creams, however a little added boost is always helpful, especially for those looking to keep their skin looking youthful.

Here you have it, 3 ways to naturally boost your SPF this Summer – now you can enjoy the sunshine, safely knowing your skin is protected and premature ageing is a distant memory.

What Order Should You Apply Skincare in Your Summer Routine?

Radiant summer skin

The heat of the Summer can leave many of us wanting to ditch the thicker skincare products. However if you layer your products correctly, they should all be absorbed and the heat shouldn’t interfere with your skincare routine – sounds like bliss!

In What Order Should I Apply Skincare in Summer?

To put it simply, start with the lighter, thinner, water based products first, and then gradually layer on your thicker, oil based products, with SPF being applied at the very end.

By applying from lightest to heaviest, you are preventing any physical barriers from a thicker product getting in the way of absorption, by doing this you’ll really make the most of each of your skincare products.

In Summer this principle stays the same, lighter products first, heavier products last. Cleansing comes first, always. If your skin then needs to be rebalanced, apply your toner. After this start with your water based serums, perhaps your hyaluronic acid serums. Then you’ll want to progress onto your thicker serums, vitamin C serums or retinol creams as these are more likely to be oil based. Then go in with the lighter creams, and thicker moisturizers, and top it all off with a good layer of SPF.

It is vital that your SPF is applied last, by doing this you are ensuring that it is as efficient as it can be at protecting your skin from harmful UV and environmental damage.

How to Start an Anti-Ageing Skincare Routine?

Here’s an example of a brilliant anti-ageing Summer skincare routine, and the order in which it should be applied for optimal results.

Step 1 – Cleanse

The Obagi-C® Fx C-Cleansing Gel will gently cleanse your skin, removing dead skin cell build up, and any dirt, excess sebum and make up. This cleanser has been infused with vitamin C, so not only will it leave your skin feeling squeaky clean, it’ll also experience a boost in radiance.

Obagi-C® Fx C-Cleansing Gel

Step 2 – Tone

After cleansing you’ll want to apply the Obagi-C® Fx Balancing Toner to a cotton disk, and lightly smoothe this over dry skin. This will help to restore the skin’s natural pH levels, repair the skin barrier and remove any excess sebum or congestion left behind during cleansing.

Obagi-C Balancing Toner

Step 3 – Exfoliate

If you’re looking to achieve younger, more refined skin you’ll want to exfoliate once to twice per week. A great product for the job is the Obagi Professional-C® Microdermabrasion Polish + Mask. This potent antioxidant scrub contains 30% l-ascorbic acid (the purest form of vitamin C) and ultra fine crystals to buff away dead skin cell build up, revealing softer, more radiant skin underneath.

Step 4 – Brighten

Brighten your complexion and diminish pigmentation with the Obagi Professional-C® Serum 15% (also available with 10% or 20% vitamin C). This serum is next to be applied as it’s the lightest of the serums and creams in this routine. Apply a few drops to the face and neck and allow it to fully absorb before moving onto the next step. This serum will stimulate collagen and elastin production, creating smoother, tighter skin with a more youthful appearance. Fine lines and wrinkles will be reduced and pigmentation will be lighter with consistent use.

Step 5 – Hydrate

We all know that in every great skincare routine there must be an equally brilliant moisturiser, Obagi Hydrate® is just that! This best selling cream is infused with mango, shea butter and HydromanilTM. HydromanilTM forms a matrix on the surface of the skin, preventing moisture loss, keeping the skin hydrated and plump for longer.

Step 6 – Protect

No Summer skincare routine would be complete without an SPF. Obagi’s Sun Shield MatteTM Broad Spectrum SPF 50 will protect your skin from harmful UVA and UVB rays, preventing sun damage and pigmentation formation. This luxury, non-greasy formula should be applied last, so that when the UV rays make contact, the SPF will get to work protecting your skin. Remember, apply sunscreen at least 15 minutes before sun exposure and keep topped up throughout the day to maximise protection!

All of these products come together to form the Pure Obagi Antioxidant Kit. The specially selected ingredients and products make this kit perfect for ageing skin. 7 Ways To Avoid Sun Damaged Skin

It’s concerning how often we’ve heard people say “but my burn will turn into a tan tomorrow” when they get sunburnt. Going into the sun unprotected can be extremely harmful to your skin. Not only can you get sunburnt, but in the long run it can cause hyperpigmentation, dark spots, sunspots or in the worst case even skin cancer. For this reason, we cannot emphasise often enough what the importance of sunscreen is and why you should wear it every single day. A common misconception is that sunscreen should only be used during the summer months, when you’re constantly exposed to direct sunlight. You might be surprised to learn that sunscreen should actually be used all year round, even in the winter months when the sun won’t even appear. We will tell you more about the seven ways you can avoid sun damaged skin.

1. SPF is your best friend

Let’s start off with the most important one: always wear SPF. Whether you’re using sunscreen or a moisturiser that contains SPF, as long as you make sure your skin is protected from the sun. We recommend using a product that contains at least SPF 30 to be fully protected. OBAGI360 HydraFactor® Broad Spectrum SPF 30 is a 2-in-1 moisturiser and sunscreen that both hydrates and protects your skin all day long. That makes incorporating SPF into your skincare routine very easy! If you’re in need of even more protection, the Obagi Sun Shield Matte™ Broad Spectrum SPF 50 is your go to sunscreen.

2. Find a spot in the shade

During the hottest days in summer, it’s best to find a spot in the shade, especially when the UV-rays are the strongest between 11AM and 2PM. No matter how loyal you are applying sunscreen every two hours, exposing your skin to a high UV index can still be harmful.

3. Wear protective clothing

If you know you’re going to be exposed to sunlight for a long period of time, it’s best to wear protective clothing in areas you might get sunburnt easily. The shoulders, cleavage and forehead are spots that often get sunburnt, so it’s key to protect those most. Wear a short sleeved t-shirt to protect your shoulders and wear a sun hat or cap to avoid sun exposure on your forehead.

4. Don’t forget about your lips

Do you own a lip balm or chapstick with SPF? It’s not only important to apply sunscreen on your face, but your lips as well. Not applying protective lip balm can cause your lips to age quicker and develop more fine lines and wrinkles.

5. Check the UV index

Before going out into the sun for a lovely tanning session, make sure to check the UV index first. To paint a picture: with a UV index of zero to two, it takes one hour to get sunburnt without protection. With a UV index above 5, it takes only 10 minutes to sunburn your skin. We recommend not going into direct sunlight when the UV index is that high, but if you must, you should apply SPF30 at least once every two hours and seek as much shade as you can.

6. Minimise hyperpigmentation

Once you get older, hyperpigmentation on your skin starts to occur more and more. Protecting your skin from the sun can help to lower the chance of getting hyperpigmentation, but some people might still have dark spots or sunspots on their face. Thankfully, there are skin-brightening products on the market, such as Obagi Nu-Derm® Blend Fx, that help to minimise the appearance of hyperpigmentation.

Obagi Nu-Derm Blend Fx

7. Avoid reflective surfaces

As you might have experienced before, your skin burns more easily when you’re at the beach or on a boat. The reason for this is that water and sand are reflective surfaces and can reflect up to 85% of the sun’s rays. This means you’re exposed to the sun even more which increases your risk of sunburn.

Do You Have Sensitive Skin? Here’s How To Find Out

Sensitive skin

Whenever you’re buying a new beauty product, whether that’s skincare or makeup, you will have to consider what skin type you have. The beauty market has largely expanded in recent years and that has resulted in a wide range of different products, targeting different skin types and tones. When buying skincare products, it is important to fully understand your skin type and the way your skin reacts to certain products or ingredients. Using the wrong product for your skin type can affect your skin in a negative way and of course, that’s something we wouldn’t want to happen. In this blog, we will run you through six signs that will tell you that you have sensitive skin.

1. YOUR SKIN REACTS QUICKLY

If your skin is sensitive, you will notice that it reacts very quickly to products that are applied. This doesn’t necessarily have to be skincare products only, you might experience a reaction on your skin from simply washing your hands with soap. Harsh ingredients in skincare products are not a great match with sensitive skin and will likely cause redness and irritation.

2. BAD WEATHER IMPACTS YOUR SKIN

Not only may products have an impact on sensitive skin, but bad weather can also cause your skin to react. Cold, windy days are not your friend if your skin is sensitive, especially for people suffering from Rosacea. The bad weather can cause flushing via agitated, swollen blood vessels which can be painful and uncomfortable. When sensitive skin is inflamed, it’s best to apply soothing products that contain Calendula, Chamomile or Aloe Vera.

Dry skin

3. YOUR SKIN SHOWS REDNESS

Blotchy, inflamed skin is a well-known issue for people with sensitive skin. Whether your redness shows up naturally as a reaction to certain situations or is caused by the usage of certain ingredients, if your skin flushes red easily, this is probably a sign you have sensitive skin. Redness takes form in multiple ways, such as red rash, red bumps, blushing and flushing, or even red dilated blood vessels.

4. DRY PATCHES

Dry skin and sensitive skin go hand-in-hand. Dryness and irritation of the skin are signs of eczema, a skin condition that makes your skin red and itchy. Depending on the severity of your dryness and possible eczema, you can decide between different types of hydrators. The Obagi Hydrate® is a moisturiser that provides all-day hydration and keeps the skin hydrated for up to eight hours. It’s the perfect product for sensitive skin as it contains no harsh ingredients.

Obagi Hydrate

5. YOUR SKIN BREAKS OUT EASILY

Next, if you’re struggling with regular breakouts this might be caused by your sensitive skin. Dry, sensitive skin produces extra oils to compensate for the lack of moisture in the skin. This causes clogged pores that will result in more breakouts. To avoid breakouts when you have sensitive skin, you can use a gentle exfoliator to thoroughly clean your face twice a day. This will get rid of excess oil and dirt on your skin, leaving it clean and smooth. Obagi CLENZIderm Foaming Cleanser, including Salicylic Acid asa type of BHA, has been specially formulated for normal to dry skin and effectively removes makeup, oil residue and impurities.

CLENZIderm Foaming Cleanser

6. YOUR SKIN IS PRONE TO SUNBURNS

With sensitive skin comes increased sensitivity to UV rays that are caused by direct exposure to the sun. People with sensitive skin are more likely to sunburn and sunburn way quicker than people without sensitive skin. Is your skin already irritated or peeling before going into the sun? Be extra careful then, as the sun will have harmful effects on your skin. Whenever you’re going out, whether this is in winter or summer, you should wear sunscreen at all times. Preferably, with sensitive skin, you should wear SPF30 or higher daily. If you don’t want to stack layer on to layer, a 2-in-1 moisturiser and sunscreen combination will work best for you, such as the OBAGI360 Hydrafactor® SPF30. Does your skin need more protection? The Obagi Sun Shield Matte™ Broad Spectrum SPF50 will be your perfect match.

6. Apply a Long-lasting Daily Moisturiser

Hydromanil™ molecules within Obagi Hydrate® form a matrix on the skin’s surface which serves as a barrier. The matrix holds water in the layers of the skin, gradually delivering nourishment from active compounds over time. It’s even been clinically proven to improve moisture content and to provide moisturisation for up to 8 hours.

Obagi Retinol® 1.0 is minimally irritating and contains wonderfully enriching Shea Butter, Jojoba Oil and calming Chamomile. Not only does it target fine lines and wrinkles and leaves the user with a smoother, brighter complexion but it also prevents future skin damage.

 9. Vitamin C is a Powerful Antioxidant

It’s another wonder ingredient that’s taken the skincare industry by storm. Vitamin C produces glowing, smoother, more hydrated skin, also calms skin inflammation, reduces irregular pigmentation and minimises signs of ageing. Obagi Professional-C® Serum has been formulated with L-ascorbic Acid; Vitamin C is in its purest form. Clinical studies have demonstrated that Obagi Professional-C® Serum penetrates the epidermis and dermis significantly better than most Vitamin C serums. For dry, mature, sensitive skin, we’d recommend starting with the 10% formulation.

OBAGI PROFESSIONAL C SERUM

10. Eye-Creams Must Develop Healthy Elastin

To repair and prevent fine lines and wrinkles around the eye contours, it’s vital that an eye cream supports the three necessary stages of developing healthy elastin: create, convert and organise. Obagi ELASTIderm® Eye Cream combats the loss of elastin which leads to weak, sagging, ageing skin, by combining powerful zinc and copper – with malonate within its powerful Bi-Mineral Contour Complex™ technology. With regular use, the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles around the delicate eye area are visibly diminished in as little as two weeks.

What Results Can I Expect from Obagi360® System?

OBAGI360 HydraFactor® Broad Spectrum SPF 30

OBAGI360® System

To achieve optimal results from skincare products, a system is the best option. That’s because products within a skincare system, have been created to work synergistically and complement one another. Obagi have created a number of skincare systems formulated for different skin types. Depending on your concerns, we have a comprehensive skincare system to suit your needs.

It’s true that some people make the mistake of treating skincare as a low priority during their twenties and thirties. Trouble is, by the time they do, it may already be too late.

  • Fine lines
  • Wrinkles
  • Sun damage
  • Rough texture
  • Loss of resilience
  • Dullness
  • Dehydration

These are all skin concerns that typically occur as we age. Fortunately, prioritising skincare early on can visibly improve skin texture and condition. The OBAGI360® System has been specifically formulated for those within the 20-30 age-group, to preserve youthful looking skin. Enlarged pores, acne and blemishes are also common concerns during this age-range. OBAGI360® System tackles these concerns, leaving skin fresh, purified and all importantly, clearer. Make an early intervention with this unique, outstanding combination of effective ingredients. By doing so, you’re setting a foundation for a lifetime of beautiful, radiant skin.

OBAGI360 SYSTEM

OBAGI360® Retinol 0.5

You might be under the impression that Retinol is a product for mature skin. Let’s put that belief to bed once and for all. Retinol is indeed one of the most effective anti-ageing products. As we get older, our body’s natural skin cell turnover slows down. Retinol is a product that can boost this process. That’s because it increases collagen production in the dermis. By doing so, skin elasticity is improved, skin appears youthful and fine lines, wrinkles and crow’s feet are smoothed.

Increased cell turnover also keeps pores clear and reduces acne. This is another fantastic benefit for anyone who suffers from acne, blemishes or enlarged pores. After continuous use, skin looks clearer and healthier. It’s understandable that you might have concerns about Retinol though. There is plenty of misinformation on the internet about it. There’s also no doubt that it’s a powerful active ingredient. In truth, it can take skin a little while to adjust to some Retinol products on the market sometimes with redness, dryness and some minor irritation. Obagi takes skin irritation extremely seriously and has carried out skin trials to assess irritation after 3 weeks to ensure that their products are minimally irritating. Be reassured that Retinol is completely safe when used correctly.

Our advice is always to begin with a low strength Retinol and gradually build up. This allows your skin time to get used to the product. If you’re new to Retinol, you might like to try OBAGI360® Retinol 0.5. It’s a low-level Retinol cream to help improve complexion and smooth uneven texture. After use, expect clearer, more youthful-looking skin. Signs of premature ageing are also minimised, and it prevents further skin damage too.

It’s a sad fact but not enough of us use a daily SPF over our moisturiser. If you’re serious about preventing signs of ageing, then add this final step into your morning skincare routine. In fact, it’s so important that SPF is recommended for daily use by The Skin Cancer Foundation.

Try OBAGI360 HydraFactor® SPF30. This dual action, calming moisturiser offers all-day hydration and broad-spectrum protection against UVA/UVB rays. Its clever formulation defends against future damage like fine lines and wrinkles by absorbing UV rays and releasing them from the body. Not only that, but this product also incorporates advanced Hydromanil™ technology (derived from Tara Seed). These are molecules which remain on the surface of the skin, forming a barrier and preventing moisture loss. 3D matrix molecules also work by capturing water molecules and continuously releasing nourishing compounds into the skin. Add Glycerin to this potent combination and skin feels thoroughly moisturised and looks radiant and youthful.

Apply OBAGI360 HydraFactor® SPF30 liberally in the morning, at least 15 minutes before skin is exposed to the sun. Reapply every 2 hours whilst in the sun. Commit to moisturising and protecting skin from premature ageing and even worse, skin cancer with this must-have 2 in 1 moisturiser and sunscreen.

2022 Skincare Trends: Dermatologist Predictions

Facial roller

With the start of a new year, we start to evaluate our previous year and set up resolutions for the year to come. New Year resolutions can be great, however, it can be hard to stick to them. Your resolution might be to up your skincare game. Do you pay enough attention to your skin’s health and do you actively try to improve your skin? If the answer to that question is no, now is the time to start doing it. As we’re bound to our homes right now, we have more time for ourselves, and time to update our skincare routine! The team of dermatologists for Pure Obagi have predicted the skincare trends for 2022. Are you ready?

Sun protection

In the past decade or so, a lot more attention has been given to protecting your skin from the sun and preventing skin cancer in the long run. In 2022, moisturisers with SPF will be even more popular than before. It’s now becoming the standard skincare go to, rather than a special treatment of your skin. If you care about your skin, you should never leave the house without sun protection on your face. Have you not yet incorporated a moisturiser with SPF such as the OBAGI360 Hydrafactor® SPF30 into your skincare routine? This is an easy win!

Retinol

Have you heard of Retinol? Retinol is a derivative from Vitamin A and is an ingredient used in skincare products more often nowadays. Our dermatologists predict that this ingredient will increase in popularity even more in 2022. Retinol is highly effective in reducing the signs of premature ageing, including dark spots, fine lines, wrinkles, sun spots, uneven skin, large pores and skin blemishes. That’s a long list of skincare concerns that can be reduced, prevented or even solved by one ingredient: Retinol.

Anti-ageing products

Speaking of reducing the signs of premature ageing, a lot more people will start using anti-ageing products in the coming year. Anti-ageing products have always been considered to be useful once you’re forty or fifty years old. However, it has been dermatologically proven that the best time to start using anti-ageing products is when you are in your twenties. When you’re at this age, your least concern is getting wrinkles or fine lines but still, this is the moment our skin starts to age. Don’t wait until it’s too late, prevention is better than a cure and anti-ageing products have a lot more impact when you’re still young. The Obagi Professional-C® Portfolio is a skincare range specially designed to reduce the early signs of ageing. With Vitamin C as its main ingredient, it effectively helps to prevent wrinkles and fine lines from appearing prematurely.

Facial roller

Maybe you’ve seen them before, maybe you haven’t. Facial rollers are extremely popular at the moment and will continue to be in 2022. A facial roller is made out of gemstones and can gently massage the skin. By gently rolling it over your face, the facial roller will stimulate blood circulation. You might wonder, how is that beneficial for your skin? Well, it helps to minimise pores, reduce dark under-eye circles and helps your skin to absorb skincare products better.

OBAGI DAILY HYDRO DROPS

Obagi Daily Hydro-Drops™

One of Obagi’s newest and most popular products is the Obagi Daily Hydro-Drops™. This is a facial serum that can be applied to your face on a daily basis which leaves the skin feeling fresh, smooth and hydrated. The Obagi Daily Hydro-Drops™ are free for emulsifiers, only using the purest forms of Abyssinian Hybiscus Oils. As the drops are suitable for people with all skin types, including sensitive skin, this product will find its way into many skincare routines throughout 2022.
